Culture Analysis

People are often able to describe, anecdotally, the challenges of their organisational culture. However, on discussion they often have different ideas around the cause and extent of these challenges as presenting problems often have underlying causes which are not always immediately apparent. If interventions are designed purely from this perspective it is possible that real issues will be overlooked and symptoms rather than causes will be addressed.

Conducting a cultural analysis, or discovery exercise, in your organisation allows exploration of the underlying issues.

Another benefit of this approach is the opportunity it presents for your people to input into the process early on, enabling them to feel involved and included. Having been listened to, individuals generally have a greater commitment to the interventions which follow and so resistance to your company initiatives are reduced. Cultural Analysis assists with the engagement of your organisational members as well as raising a level of expectation that something is going to happen, so laying the foundations for what follows.

This activity can take place through a questionnaire (quantative analysis) or a combination of focus groups and interviews (qualitative analysis). Each approach has its benefits and we at Unicorn would work with you to determine which would be most effective in your situation.
